HISTORY AND OVERVIEW

Santa Rosa Valley is a rural unincorporated community in Ventura County, California.  This picturesque valley was named after Saint Rose the first person ever in the Americas to be canonized as a saint.  Born Isabel Flores de Olivia in the city of Lima, Peru.  Her nickname “Rose” came from a servant who claimed she was as beautiful as a rose.  She later formally took the name and made lace and embroidery to care for the poor. Rose was declared a saint in 1671 by Pope Clement X and passed away at the early age of 31.
